Yields: 2-3 servings (makes 2-3 wraps) Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 20-25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound top round steak (or thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic (about 4 cloves fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon steak house seasoning (e.g., Flavor God Steak & Chop, or your favorite blend; KETO NOTE: Check for no added sugar)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 medium bell peppers (any color), thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking steak and veggies)
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 ½ – 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided (approximately ½ cup per “wrap”)
  • Optional: A slice of provolone cheese per wrap for extra authenticity

Equipment:

  • Large skillet or cast iron skillet (for cooking steak and veggies)
  • Separate non-stick skillet (for cheese wraps)
  • Spatula or tongs
  • Plates for serving

Instructions:

  1. Prep Steak & Veggies: Thinly slice the top round steak against the grain into bite-sized pieces. Slice the onionand bell peppers thinly.
  2. Cook Steak & Veggies: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the thinly sliced steak. Season with 1 tablespoon of steak house seasoning, about 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the steak is browned and cooked through.
    • Push the steak to one side of the skillet. Add the sliced onion and bell peppers to the other side of the skillet (add a little more olive oil if needed). Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
    • Once the vegetables are tender, combine them with the steak mixture in the skillet. Reduce the heat to low to keep the cheesesteak mixture warm while you prepare the cheese wraps.
  3. Prepare Cheese “Wraps”: Heat a separate non-stick skillet over medium heat.
    • Sprinkle approximately ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese (or a slice of provolone if using) evenly over the bottom of the hot non-stick skillet, forming a circular layer roughly the size of a tortilla (about 6-8 inches).
    • Cook for 3-5 minutes, watching carefully, until the cheese is completely melted, bubbly, and the edges are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  4. Assemble & Serve: Once the cheese “wrap” is ready, immediately spoon about ⅓ to ½ of the hot cheesesteak mixture onto one half of the melted cheese circle.
    • Using a spatula, carefully fold the other half of the melted cheese over the cheesesteak mixture, creating a “wrap” or taco shape. Press down gently to seal.
    • Immediately transfer the finished Philly Cheesesteak Wrap to a plate. Repeat the process for the remaining cheese and cheesesteak mixture.
    • Serve hot and enjoy your amazing low-carb Philly Cheesesteak Wraps!

Tips for Success:

  • Thinly Slice Meat: This is crucial for tenderness and quick cooking. Partially freezing the steak for 20-30 minutes before slicing can make it much easier to cut thinly.
  • Steak House Seasoning: Check your seasoning blend for hidden sugars or starches. Most common steak seasonings are usually keto-friendly, but always verify.
  • Non-Stick Pan for Wraps: A good quality non-stick skillet is essential for making the cheese wraps without them sticking.
  • Watch the Cheese Wraps: The cheese melts and browns quickly. Watch carefully to achieve a golden, crispy bottom without burning.
  • Work Quickly: Once the cheese “wrap” is ready, assemble and fold quickly while the cheese is still pliable.
  • Customization: Add a dash of red pepper flakes to the steak mixture for heat, or top with a bit of sugar-free hot sauce after serving.
